We have all turned the calendar over to the New Year and for the next 2 months will be scribbling out 2015 everytime we have to write a date.  There is a lot of hoopla that comes with said calendar turn – parties, resolutions, year-end reviews.

Given this blog is just a little over a year old, I thought I would take a look back at 2015.  It was the first full calendar year of our existence.  When I did the tally of posts, you’ll never guess the result.

100!  That’s right – we published exactly 100 posts to the blog in 2015.  No, it wasn’t planned.  In fact, not a lot about this blog is “planned” so to speak.  That is the great thing about a blog.  If an update, cool topic, interesting research finding, or fun story comes our way, we can get it out immediately or as fast as our fingers can type.

Those 100 posts covered everything from webinars to 50 yard dashes to deer trapping to dispersal to our own version of mortality scene investigation to long lost siblingsVampires, malacology, even etymology – you name it, it’s in there.  Which is what makes working on (and I hope reading) this blog so much fun.

Our most famous deer (and post) was that of 8917.  His story was viewed over 40,000 times.  Who knew that a little deer in Pennsylvania could be so popular?  The stories on this blog are read by almost 60,000 people every month.  I’m sure other blogs have 10 or maybe 100 times more readership but even this level of success is something that surprised all of us.  We weren’t sure 1 person would read it, never mind 60,000!

So thank you, blog readers whoever you may be!  We will keep plugging along in 2016 with the hopes of entertaining and enlightening.

Get ready because a new trapping season is about to begin!
