From the Northern Crew:

The week flew by between scouting and catching deer. Between this week and last, our luck and perseverance have led to the team catching 14 deer. Three of these deer were ideal to collar due to their size.

In between checking the traps, we scouted additional sites and put out six additional traps. During placement, we secure each trap to the ground with rebar stakes. Ethan was not on board with my placement of said rebar.

He was right and we ended up hammering the rebar into the ground in another place. [Team work makes the dream work!]

Because of Valentine’s Day, Abby’s mom sent us all goodies to celebrate. We are eternally grateful!

From the Southern Crew:

 Hello all!

We’ve made it through yet another week of deer trapping, and it seems as though the season is flying by. Our luck hasn’t quite held up, but we did add another fawn to our list of captures! That little fawn had a lot of spunk, and our crew spent about 30 minutes repairing the trap after we released her.

Our trail cameras have caught some promising pictures of deer investigating the traps and we’re cautiously optimistic for the week ahead. We’re still working on setting our remaining traps, finding new sites, and baiting backup sites for if/when they’re needed. Sunday was our first day off in two weeks and after a short break, we’re ready to launch back into trapping with a fresh start.
